The Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Cheng-Kung University (NCKU) has been established since 1931, and is the oldest and the most renowned mechanical engineering institutes in Taiwan. Our alumni and alumnus occupy important positions in Taiwan's industries, business, and governmental institution. In addition, numerous faculty members of Taiwan and world's leading universities are also graduated from this department. A local survey reveals that alumni from NCKU have being the most welcome employees by Taiwan business companies.

Research group

Research

In order to focus on profundity of research disciplinary and satisfy the need of society and industries, our department is divided into the following six divisions: 1.Thermal and Fluid Sciences 2.Solid Mechanics 3.Mechanical Design 4.Manufacturing and Materials 5.System and Control 6.Innovative technology in nanotechnology optotoelectronics, energy and biomedical engineering.

Mission and Educational Objectives: 1.Educate students to understand the principles of mathematics, science and engineering, and solve the problems of the mechanical engineering with the systematized method. 2.Strengthen the combination of both theory and practice and give consideration to the depth and scope that the mechanical engineering educates. 3.Foster mechanical engineering talents with leadership, creativity and international view.
